THE STORY ONLY I DIDN'T KNOW
@the LIVING
As time went on, the students fell into routines and habits; it was only natural, right? They met for breakfast in the restaurant each morning, to Aure's delight. It was nice to see these people all gathering together and not secluding themselves! If they hadn't been so willing to adapt, she might have lost her mind altogether. So every morning she gathered herself from bed, donned her unfortunate costume, and made her way to the ornate establishment. 7 A.M. on the dot. But as she affixed her witch hat,—Monokuma had threatened the White Witch's life if she refused to wear it—something gnawed at her. Why did her heart feel so...heavy? Perhaps it was homesickness, or rather...streetsickness.
“You're being ridiculous.” she said out loud in the mirror. And to her horror, a voice answered. She watched as the T.V. in the reflection flickered to life, with the bear holding his everpresent wine.
“A body has been discovered. After a short investigation period, the class trial will begin.”
What?
…
…
Huh?
…
No. Whatever Monokuma was pulling, it was another sick joke on par with her forced dress code. Aurelie had no time for jokes. So with her teeth gritted she stomped her way downstairs, trying and failing to look truly pissed. Ah, what was the point? He would just throw it back in her face later on if she appeared bothered--
There was a small smattering of people around the Gift Shop where she had once met Kasima. She spotted his glittering red jewels, and the dark green of Hoshi's hoodie, and------------
Through a gap in the crowd, the Witch saw blood and a face. Hasao...was it? He was the...Film...D i r e c t o r . . .
…
Her knees gave way, and Ebner found herself on the floor quickly. It couldn't be true. She covered her mouth with her hand tightly, and with a newfound burst of energy, she had leapt up and lurched over him. With a shaky breath and a teardrop that dropped onto his body, she let out a long, rapid-fire prayer with hands hovering over his heart. She could fix this, her mother—her mother would have been able to, probably. But as his eyes grew no less glassy, it become apparent that he wasn't healed.
Falling back onto her knees, Aure stared a thousand yards past the body of a potential friend and patient. Gone. Gone. Gone. Her gaze turned to look at her classmates. Hoshi, where was Hoshi? Ah. There. Looking pallid and lost. Zara's words rang through her conscious, clear as day. Yes, investigating...partners...it was coldly logical.
Still, nothing seemed alright anymore.
